At Vitalis Coaching we believe that there is a difference between confidence and self-esteem.
Confidence has to do with a belief in your own abilities. When you feel confident you have the certainty that you can do a certain task. For example you can feel extremely confident about cooking a delicious Indian curry, but completely lack the confidence in presenting in front of big groups.
Self-Esteem (or self-worth) is the idea that you have about yourself. It refers to one's own opinion of one's self. It has to do how much you value and like yourself and how important you think you are. Having high self-esteem means you have a sense of acceptance, respect, trust and belief in yourself.
Many of our clients come to life coaching sessions to increase their confidence and/or self-esteem. Sometimes it's about increasing confidence in one specific area of their life (with the children, a partner, at work or while giving a presentation), and sometimes it's a wish of having a more overall sense self-love. Being assertive, expressing ourselves clearly and standing up for our own needs can be associated with feelings of guilt, fear or selfishness. And many of us have very unfriendly voices in our own head, telling us things as "I can't do it, I'm too ugly for that to ever happen, I don't deserve it anyway, it'll never work, I'm not good enough and no-one wants me..." The dialogue of our inner critic holds us back and limits us in achieving our deepest wishes.
At Vitalis Coaching we'd love to help you find your strength, self-belief and inner truth, and support you to "feel it, do it, live it, love it" in a way that matches your unique style and personality.
